Sabres Improve to 4-1 with Win Over Montreal

Ryan Miller managed to stop 40-of-41 shots Tuesday, helping the Sabres edge out the Habs 3-1 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
The stellar play of Miller seemed to be the only thing keeping the team alive, as after the first period Buffalo managed just 3 shots to Montreal’s 14.
The Habs opened the scoring just 2:08 into the 2nd, with D Raphael Diaz showing patience and beating Miller to net his first NHL goal. After fighting majors handed down to McCormick and Moen, Jordan Leopold snuck up on Carey Price and got his first of the season from Stafford and Roy at 12:11. Then, with just under 5 seconds left in the period, Gaustad managed to win the draw deep in Montreal territory, setting up what will most likely be one of the plays of the year. Gragnani grabbed the puck, got it back to Pominville, then with only 2 seconds left, Vanek fired it past Price to get #4 on the season.
After a late 3rd period surge from the Habs, Christian Ehrhoff fired a shot 180 feet down the ice and into the empty net for his first goal of the season, securing the win for Buffalo.
The Sabres remain undefeated on the road, and hope to continue that streak when they face former Sabre Brian Campbell and the Florida Panthers on Thursday. Game Time is 7:30 and will be on MSG HD. They then travel to Tampa Bay to face off against Steven Stamkos and the Lightning on Saturday(MSG HD, 7:00). The team will return to Buffalo and the First Niagara Center to play Tampa again Tuesday(Versus HD, TSN2, 7:30).
