Vanek’s 3 Points Night Powers Sabres to 4-2 Win Over Blue Jackets

The Sabres got their first official won on First Niagara Center Ice with a 4-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Thomas Vanek was a huge reason why recording 3 Points on the Night. With the 3 Points Vanek recorded his 400th Career Point in a Sabre Uniform. Vanek would set up the Sabres first goal of the Night on the Power Play on a Brad Boyes goal. The Sabres would take a 2-0 lead early in the 2nd Period when Vanek would hook up with Jason Pominville. The Blue Jackets wouldn’t go away when Vinny Prospal would cut the Sabres lead in half letting a wrist shot go past Jhonas Enroth. The Blue Jackets would tie the game at 2 half-way through the 3rd Period on a Fedor Tyutin Marker. Patrick Kaleta would put the Sabres in the lead for good less than 4 minutes later depositing a backhand behind Steve Mason. Vanek would set up Pominville again on the Power Play to put the game out of reach. Enroth recorded his 2nd Win of the Season stopping 41 Blue Jackets Shots.

The Sabres return to action on Saturday Night when they host Brian Campbell and the Florida Panthers at 7:00 PM. The Game can be seen on MSG HD.
