Ryan Miller had his strongest performance so far this season in the Sabres 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders. Miller who has struggled for the most part this season had his best game of the season stopping 41 of 43 Islanders Shots. Miller picked up his 5th win on the season. Miller had to be in top form because the Sabres were outplayed on the night and outshot 43-15. Thomas Vanek also kept his red-hot season going picking up a goal and assists on the night. Cody Hodgson also had a 2 point night.
The Sabres got on the board first when Vanek deposited a Cody Hodgson rebound past Islanders goalie Evgeni Nabokov 9:11 into the game. The Islanders would strike late in the frame to tie the game at 1 when Tavares scored on a wrap-around. Christian Ehrhoff picked up his 1st goal of the season with 7:39 left in the 2nd Period finishing up a give and go with Cody Hodgson during 4 on 4 play. For the 2nd Period in a row the Islanders would tally a late goal from Colin McDonald. Alexander Sulzer would net the game winner with 12:25 left in regulation when his shot got past Nabokov. Nabokov only made 12 saves on the night getting his 5th loss of the season.
The Sabres return to action again tomorrow night against Zdeno Chara and the Rival Boston Bruins. Puck Drop is at 7:00 PM and can be seen on MSG HD.
