This Day In Sabres History:

February 21, 1974
Sabres’ defenseman Tim Horton dies in a car accident on the QEW near Saint Catharines, Ontario. He was 44. The Sabres host the Atlanta Flames at the Aud that night and pull out a 4-4 tie after trailing 4-1. The only Sabre ever to have died while an active player, Horton’s number 2 hangs in the rafters of the First Niagara Center.
