Jason Pominville netted 2 goals and the game winning goal in the shootout in the Sabres 4-3 shootout win over the New Jersey Devils. Pominville would kick off the goal scoring 7:17 into the 2nd Period on a Short Handed Marker when Cody Hodgson won a race for a loose puck and found Pominville alone in the slot. The Devils would answer back 2:07 later when a Mark Fayne shot hit former Sabre Steve Bernier and trickled into the net behind Sabres Goalie Ryan Miller.
The Devils would take the lead 1:21 into the 3rd Period with a Short Handed Goal of their own when Adam Henrique capitalized on a turnover by Steve Ott in the Neutral Zone and beat Miller 1 on 1. The Sabres would tie the game 1:49 later when Pominville got his 2nd of the afternoon when he one-timed a great saucer pass from Cody Hodgson. The Sabres would take the lead when Jochen Hecht backed a back hand shot from the side of the net off of Devils Starter Johan Hedberg at the 9:47 mark of the 3rd. The Devils again would quickly tie the game 1:35 later when rookie Andrei Loktionov was left alone at the side of the net.
The Game would go to a Shootout after the Sabres had 2 chances on the PP in Overtime. Jason Pominville would finish up his strong afternoon netting the game winner in the first round of the shootout. Tyler Ennis would add a goal in the 2nd round and Miller would stop Henrique to finish the game. Miller got his 9th win of the season stopping 28 shots on the afternoon. Hedberg lost his 2nd game in overtime stopping 20 shots.
