The Sabres announced today that long time Play By Play Man Rick Jeanneret has signed an extension to do play by play duties for the next 3 seasons. After the 2015-2016 season Jeanneret will hang up the headset and Dan Dunleavy will take over the play by play duties. Jeanneret who started with the Sabres in the 1971 has been the voice of many great memories over his 40 plus seasons of games. Over the last few years Jeanneret has been honored by the Sabres by going into the Sabres Hall of Fame in 2011, getting the honor from the NHL with the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award in 2012, and last year getting elected into the Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.
Jeanneret will call the majority of the game this season, while Dan Dunleavy gets eased into the position. Dunleavy will be calling 25 Sabres Games this season. Dunleavy was the radio voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs for the past 9 seasons and is also the voice of MLS Toronto FC. Dunleavy will also be a contributor to the Sabres Pre and Post Game Coverage as well as features on Sabres.com.
